Alexander Gordon Higgins (1949 - 2010)
Alexander Gordon Higgins was an Irish snooker player and he is also known by his nickname of Hurricane Higgins. He was a former World Doubles champion with Jimmy White. He brought the game of snooker to a wider audience and contributed to its peak in popularity in the eighties. He won 20 titles. He won the Masters in 1978 by beating Cliff Thorburn. Steve Davis made a documentary about the sport and discribed Alexander Gordon as "one true genius that snooker has produced". Alexander Gordon Higgins played against Terry Griffiths and won the Masters. He died at the age of 61.
